New Year’s Eve in the Mountains

Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville have a myriad of options available for residents and tourists to enjoy the last day of the year, and the first moments of the new one. Gatlinburg will continue their epic ball drop and fireworks show at the space needle for the 28th year. Synchronized music, LED lights, pyrotechnics, and a ball drop guarantee a fun night for the 50,000 anticipated attendants. Gatlinburg’s special event is one of the largest organized New Year’s Eve celebrations in the USA. Round up your friends and family and head to the base of the Space Needle, at the intersection of Parkway and Historic Nature Trail to partake of this exciting event.

If Gatlinburg’s crowds intimidate you, there are still plenty of offerings in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville to please you. In Pigeon Forge, New Year’s Eve at the Island promises a night of free live music, a midnight fireworks show, and plentiful attractions to entertain the whole crew. Head to the Island at 131 Island Drive at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to ring in the New Year. If you’re looking for a musical New Year’s, check out Country Tonite’s special New Year’s Eve show. Complete with hundreds of balloons, noisemakers, party favors, and a special toast at midnight. The show starts at 10 p.m. and is family friendly.

Sevierville’s numerous dinner shows often have special New Year’s Eve performances as well. From Christmas themed shows like Dolly Parton’s Christmas Dixie Stampede to Hatfield & McCoy’s Christmas Dinner Disaster to the Lumberjack Feud Christmas Competition, there’s a show for every taste and style.

If you prefer privacy to large crowds, retreat into the mountains to a cabin for a cozy New Year’s Eve with just those closest to you.
