Herbert Holt Park is a well-kept secret right at the beginning of Gatlinburg! Its the only handicap and wheelchair accessible fishing pier in the area, and in addition children under 12 are allowed to fish for trout here! And that works out really well, because non-native rainbow trout are actually farmed right there at the Park, and released into the stream. It is posted that certain times of the year it’s “catch and release” due to mating season.
I went out to take some photos of the park, and had my Mom along with me. I caught these three sisters standing on the beach, and it was so nostalgic for both of us… my 3 sisters and I would arrive in the mountains and head straight for the rivers.
