About Sevierville
While a large part of the county has a “Sevierville” mailing address, including the areas in the country, the Town of Sevierville proper has its own special character. Founded in 1795 and named for Tennessee’s first governor, John Sevier, the town has a historic downtown district anchored by the hundred-year-old county courthouse, now full of antique shops and local eateries. Considering Sevierville real estate, there are many lovely established neighborhoods in town such as Birchwood, Savannah Glen, and Belle Meadows that are home to local business owners and community leaders. Quick access to the new hospital, shopping, Knoxville airport and the I-40 interstate as well as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Gatlinburg make this the most convenient place to live in the area. As such, it is chosen by many who want to retire to Tennessee, own a convenient second home or make the area their permanent home. Oh, and by the way…it’s pronounced “SEVERE-VUHL”!
